Hopewell Wildland Forestry Crew

When there is a fire on State owned land, or a "Brush Fire" call gets large enough a Wildland Forestry Crew may be called to support other local departments. The Hopewell Wildland Forestry Crew is made up of members of Geigertown Fire Company, Birdsboro-Union Fire Department and Monocacy Fire Company. The crews sometimes work independently of each other or may be called as one unit to respond to a larger incident. They frequently get called to Mount Penn and Neversink Mountain in Reading and sometimes travel further. Geigertown Fire Company boasts 15 members of the 30+ member roster. All members have the S-130 and S-190 Wildland training that the larger crews who fight fires out west recieve.

If protecting forests and wildlife, while hiking outside or learning how to read smoke and weather seems something that would interest you, please email Warden2417@outlook.com for further information.
